If however, you are looking for fascinating facts about the area then feel free to read on.

Wolverhampton was founded by Lady Wulfrun a local noblewoman in AD 986 and from where the city gets its name. Originally the town developed its wealth in the Middle Ages because of the woollen trade and this fact is recognised in the coat of arms of the city. It is one of the three millenium cities that were granted city status together and has a population of over a quarter of a million people. Being situated as the gateway city of the Black country, situated between the counties of Staffordshire and Shropshire and just north of Birmingham, it is at the hub of excellent transport networks. The nearby M54 allows access to Telford, Shrewsbury and Wales while the M6 and M5 enable countrywide access to the south and north, so our stairlifts engineers can easily reach any local address in the event of your stairlift needing a service.

The Black Country is so named because of its big coalmining past and its local mines helped power its metalworking and foundrywork through which it expanded in the Industrial Revolution. It is still known for engineering having locks, keys and safe manufacturers locally, which also feature on the cities coat of arms, aswell as aerospace and tyre manufacturing.

The city football team is Wolverhampton Wanderers who are based at the Molineux stadium. It has a stand the Billy Wright stand named after the first football player in the world to earn 100 caps, who also holds the record for the longest unbroken run in competitive international football, captaining England a record-breaking ninety times. The club was one of the first to stage floodlit matches and their beating of a Hungarian side in a friendly in the late 50's helped to set the stage for European championship football to start. They have played Spartac Moscow, Red Star Belgrade, Barcelona and Real Madrid in matches at the Molineux.
The club was bought up in 1990 by lifelong fan Jack Hayward who has been redeveloping the ground and helped fund better players. Over recent times they have had such ex-England staff as Graham Taylor and Glenn Hoddle join the club to help it climb up the league.

For leisure and pleasure in Wolverhampton there is a choice for shows, comedy and music events at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre or Wolverhampton City Hall, which is 3 venues in one. For the culture buff the City Art Gallery is home to the UK's largest Popart collection, including a famous David Hockney soup can painting. Maybe he could do one of a can of spam instead? To see the relevance of spam and stairlifts and to help prevent stairlift spam see our popular blog post on why Stairlift Prices Aren't Monstrous from us.

For racing fans there is horse racing at Dunstall Park, Britains busiest racecourse with 100 events a year, greyhound racing at Monmore Green stadium, speedway at Wolverhampton raceway and athletics at Aldersley Village Sports stadium, where local Olympians like Denise Lewis and Tessa Sanderson have both trained. Aldersley is an official 2012 Olympic training facility.

Walsall is a district of the West Midlands that has historically been a leather and saddle making town, until being displaced by the growth of heavy engineering in the modern day. The locals are nicknamed Yam-Yam's and have traditionally a broader dialect than that found in neighbouring Wolverhampton. Do you understand this one...
"You'm get your bab ter sort at a stairlift for yer?"

a male homosexual; -- always used disparagingly and considered offensive. [Slang, disparaging]

To conlude - we know of a lady in Penkridge, Staffs who for some odd reason named her stairlift - 'the faggot'
